About the hotel

These holiday apartments are on a farm with a large courtyard in the middle where children can play. You and your family can grill food on the shared barbecue and eat at one of the tables. There are places nearby where you can go swimming in a lake, go fishing and hire canoes. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the square in Vimmerby. Astrid Lindgren's World is a perfect place to visit if you have small children and want a real family holiday. All of the stories come to life - Emil in Lönneberga, Karlsson on the roof, Pippi Longstocking, the Brothers' Lionheart, Ronja the robber's daughter and many, many more. Pippi will give your daughter a little hug, while your son's jaw will drop when Emil in Lönneberga pats him on the shoulder. The park has several cafes and restaurants. For example, you can go to Lottas Kök on Bråkmakaregatan, which serves pasta with homemade sauces. There are many other delightful restaurants, and also places where you can eat food and drink that you have brought with you. Or you could sink your teeth into freshly baked buns, cakes or bread from the Bråkmakaregatans Bageri bakery. Katthult and Mariannelund Astrid Lindgren moved from Vimmerby when she was 18 years old and the names in the surrounding area will remind you of the places in her books. You can visit Astrid Lindgren's Näs, her childhood home, to gain an interesting insight into the author's life and career. Astrid Lindgren's Näs is open all year round; visit www.astridlindgrensnas.se for information about the exact opening hours. You should also take the opportunity to visit the villages and locations that Astrid Lindgren used as inspiration for her books. These include Sevestorp and Gibberyd, which are where the Swedish films Barnen i Bullerbyn and Emil i Lönneberga, which were based on her books, were recorded. 'Emil's house' is still standing, as well as his small shed where he carved many of his wooden figures. Mariannelund is also close to Vimmerby. This was the village where Ida, helped by her older brother Emil, was hoisted to the top of the flagpole to see the view.
