Lignano Sabbiadoro is a famous seaside resort in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, characterized by a lot of greenery and extensive pine forests such as the famous Hemingway Park. For art lovers, the charming city of Venice is 100 km away and the beautiful Trieste about 95 km. Worth visiting is also the city of Aquileia (50 km), a famous port of the Roman Empire with its interesting archaeological sites and its renowned National Archaeological Museum. Here you will also find a charming cathedral with beautiful mosaics. Portogruaro, 30 km away, is rich in history, museums and monuments, as well as the town of Concordia with its ruins of the ancient Roman city. Also visit the town of Cividale del Friuli (70 km, UNESCO World Heritage Site), an ancient medieval village with the famous cathedral and buildings from the Longobard period. Also worth visiting is the town of San Daniele del Friuli (65 km), on the hills above the city of Udine, with its cathedral and the historic Guarneri Library with a collection of ancient texts.
