Experience the best of Croatia - a week of tranquillity in the Croatian archipelago!
On this trip, you'll enjoy sun and swimming, but also the opportunity to experience charming small towns with exciting history!
Suggested itinerary:
Fly to Split, Croatia's second largest city. The airport bus takes you easily to the city centre, where the ferries to the Croatian archipelago run.
If you arrive in the morning, it may be worthwhile to enjoy a bit of Split before taking the ferry to your accommodation. Jadrolinija and Krilo are the companies that offer the most ferry routes and on their websites you can also find timetables for a suitable ferry in advance.
If you only have a short time in Split, but still want to make the most of your stay, walk through the city gate where the bus car park ends and you'll pass through a small market area to a small square where the Split Cathedral is located. One of the oldest cathedrals in Europe, it was built in the 3rd century and also serves as the mausoleum of the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Turn left at the far end of the square to reach a slightly larger square - Narodni Trg. Here you can enjoy an ice cream or go to the Kraš candy shop to buy some travelling food.
If you prefer to just relax while waiting for the ferry, the Riva seafront promenade with its many bars is a nice alternative!
After taking the ferry to Korčula, you can either walk, take a bus or a taxi to your accommodation, depending on where you are staying. Please contact your accommodation in advance for the best way to get there.
On site in Korcula:
Welcome to paradise! Whether you choose to stay in the charming city centre of Korcula, in the small fishing village of Brna or anywhere else on the island, you will be greeted by clear blue sea, good food and hopefully beautiful weather!
There's plenty to do in and around Korcula for those who want to be active, but there's nothing wrong with relaxing on a sunbed either! If you want to do something exciting in the evening, you should definitely head into the town of Korčula, a medieval town with a ring wall that beautifully surrounds the old parts. Sit in a cosy restaurant and look out over the crowds as you feel the pulse of history and ponder the millions of people who have walked these cobblestones - it is said that Marco Polo was born in this town!
Korčula is also known for its good wines and you'll find many good wineries on the island, especially around the villages of Smokvica and Čara. Try the Dalmatian Dog, which offers both wine tastings and the opportunity to buy a bottle or two. If you want to leave the island for a shorter excursion, there are excursion boats to several nearby places, depending on where you live on the island. Some of the most popular ones go to Peljesac Peninsula or Lastovo Island, both of which offer great swimming opportunities.
When it's time to head back home, make sure you have plenty of time so you don't have to rush to your flight. If your flight leaves early, it may be worth spending your last night on the mainland, such as in cosy Trogir. You can easily add this to your booking.
