The area is especially known for good canoe trips: you can canoe from Nordre Boksjø to Iddefjorden. Our tip: Østfoldmuseum with the fortress in Frediksten. Suitable for young and old. In Halden you should pay a visit to Fredriksten Fortress, the largest, most important and most honorable border fortress in Norway, in front of whose walls the great Swedish King Charles XII fell in 1718. Also take a trip on MS Brekke through the locks of Northern Europe's highest lock complex.
