Experience the Yucatán Peninsula
This trip is for anyone who wants to discover Yucatán in an easy, relaxing way. You start in Cancun, continue to car-free Isla Holbox with sand between your toes, travel on to colorful Mérida, and spend your days in Tulum between ruins and crystal clear cenotes. The journey ends in Playa del Carmen, where the sea, restaurants and warm evening air create a perfect finish.
Start in Cancun
Cancun is an easy place to arrive. There is a wide beach, great restaurants and it is simple to get around. Begin your trip at a gentle pace. Walk along the shore, take a refreshing swim, try your first taste of Mexican street food and enjoy the start of your holiday.
Tip: save the longer excursions for later. These first days are about finding your rhythm and settling into beautiful Mexico. If you feel ready for adventure, there is of course plenty to do in and around Cancun.
Barefoot life on Isla Holbox
Time for true island life. On Isla Holbox the pace is slow and the days are uncomplicated. Cycle along the sandy streets to the beach, stop for fresh fruit and let the hours pass in the shade. The water is shallow and clear, and evenings gather around the sunset. If you want to be active you can rent a paddleboard or try other water sports. Despite the relaxed, paradise vibe, Isla Holbox is only a couple of hours by road from Cancun.
Colors and flavors in Mérida
Now you move from quiet island life to more bustle. Mérida is the heart of Yucatán, with pastel houses, music on the squares and the scent of citrus and chili in the evening air. Stroll between Plaza Grande and Santa Lucía, sit down for a coffee in the shade and try local dishes like cochinita pibil and sopa de lima.
Cenotes and ruins in Tulum
Tulum has been trendy in recent years, and for good reason. It is easy to balance experiences and downtime here. Cycle between the town and the beach, stop for tacos and swim in a cenote such as Gran Cenote or Calavera. Don’t miss the famous Maya ruins by the sea; go in the morning when it is cooler.
Finish in Playa del Carmen
Your journey ends in Playa del Carmen, where everything is close by. Drift between quiet hours on the beach, small shops and an evening stroll along Quinta Avenida. It is the ideal last stop before you say goodbye to Mexico for now and fly home.
