Rome & Frascati – History and flavors in perfect harmony
Rome is a city where the wings of history meet the good life – grand piazzas, ancient ruins, charming alleys, and a food culture that seduces at every meal. Here you can spend your days exploring the Colosseum, the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, and all the other iconic places, or just enjoy a long lunch on a sunny outdoor terrace.
But just 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of the city awaits something else – Frascati, one of Italy's most historic wine regions. Here you can spend a day in the rolling landscape, visit a family-owned vineyard from the 17th century, taste local wines, and participate in a pasta masterclass where you learn to make authentic Italian pasta from scratch.
Discover Rome at your own pace
During your stay in Rome, you choose how you want to experience the city. Perhaps you start the day early at the Colosseum, walk through the Roman Forum, and finish with an aperitivo at Piazza Navona. Or you take it easy and enjoy the charming back streets of Trastevere, stroll along the Tiber, and let yourself be seduced by the small delicatessens where you find perfectly aged pecorino and freshly baked bread.
For the art enthusiast, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica await, while the shopping lover finds everything from luxury boutiques on Via dei Condotti to vintage hidden gems in Monti. And of course – no day in Rome is complete without a plate of cacio e pepe or a perfectly creamy tiramisu.
Excursion to Frascati – wine, pasta & Italian hospitality
Just 20 minutes by train from Rome is Frascati – a charming little town in the heart of one of Italy's most famous wine regions. Here awaits a day filled with flavors, traditions, and genuine Italian atmosphere.
Once in Frascati, you are met by a slower pace than in Rome. Small alleys, local wine shops, and outdoor terraces where you can sit down and enjoy the Italian small town life.
Visit a historic vineyard & taste local wines
At Minardi Winery, a family-owned vineyard from the 17th century, you get a guided tour through the vineyards and the farm, which today functions as a small wine museum.
During the wine tasting, you get to taste three of the vineyard's own wines while learning more about Frascati's wine tradition and what makes the region's wines so unique.
Pasta masterclass – learn to cook Italian from scratch
After the wine tasting, it's time to roll up your sleeves. Under the guidance of an Italian professional chef, you learn to cook two classic pasta dishes:
Ravioli – Filled pasta pillows with a smooth, flavorful filling
Fettuccine – Thin pasta ribbons that you get to serve with a traditional sauce
You also get insider tips and secret tricks from the local kitchen, and of course, you get the recipes to take home.
A long lunch with your homemade pasta
After cooking, you sit down to enjoy your homemade pasta along with local appetizers, traditional sweets, and of course a glass of wine from the farm.
When lunch is finished, you make your way back to Frascati station where you easily hop on the train back to Rome.
